On the morning of June 5, 2023, my beloved son, Dominic Kollmer, tragically passed away at just 17 years old due to a fentanyl overdose. Dominic was a bright, energetic, and kind-hearted young man whose smile could light up any room—it was so contagious that even on someone's worst day, they couldn’t help but smile back.
Unfortunately, Dominic struggled with depression and anxiety stemming from the early loss of his father, as well as addiction. For years, I fought alongside him, enrolling him in multiple residential treatment centers, outpatient programs, and therapy. After his most recent stay, I believed we had turned a corner. Dominic spoke about his future, had a girlfriend, and was determined to start fresh. But beneath it all, he was lonely—desperate for friendship.
In his search for connection, Dominic reconnected with two old friends who, like him, had gone through treatment. That night, they gave him a fentanyl rock, just two weeks after his release from rehab. Dominic warned them he would likely overdose, as he had never taken fentanyl straight before. Instead of helping him, they sent him home with only an overdose kit. The next morning, I found him, gone.
After months of investigation, those "friends" and the dealer, Javon Gereal Soto, have been caught and are now facing trial for third-degree murder. Please help us by signing our petition to ensure these individuals face real consequences and that another dealer is not allowed back on the streets with minimal punishment to continue selling this deadly drug that’s killing our children.
